Badminton Class Code of Conduct

What tools do participants need to prepare for class?

  • You must wear suitable sportswear, non-removable badminton shoes and bring your own badminton racket, water bottle, towel and other personal belongings, while badminton balls will be provided by the Association. XIANG Yang does not encourage students to bring valuables to the class, and XIANG Yang will not be responsible for any loss of property suffered by the students at any time.
  • We do not encourage students to bring valuables to the course and will not be responsible for any loss of property during the course.
  • Please do not eat too much before class.
  • If a trainee feels unwell before attending a class, he/she is advised to seek medical advice as soon as possible.

Do students need to arrive at the gym early?

  • Since classes start on time, Xiang Yang staff will usually gather students 5 minutes before the badminton class starts and conduct a roll call. To avoid affecting students' learning time, Xiang Yang suggests students to arrive at the designated badminton class meeting point 10 minutes earlier (please reserve time to go there as the meeting point varies from one venue to another.) Late arrivals of badminton classes at public venues must enter the venue on their own, and go to the badminton training center and badminton class meeting point at the venue on their own. (Please allow time to arrive.) Late arrivals of badminton classes in public venues must enter the venue on their own and go to the badminton training court and badminton class venue.

Are students dismissed at the end of the class?

  • At the end of all badminton classes, participants must leave the venue with Xiang Yang staff and be dismissed.

Can students continue to stay in a public venue after the class is over?

  • All students attending lessons in the public hall must leave the hall with our coaches or course assistants after class dismissal Students who wish to continue badminton training after class must be accompanied by their parents or guardians before re-entering the badminton court hall on their own after dismissal (only applicable to students attending lessons in public halls and depends on whether the halls are open to the public or not at that time of the day) If any accident occurs outside of the hall or outside of the lesson time, the Association will not be responsible for any injuries caused by such accidents. The Association will not be responsible for any bodily injury caused by accidents outside the venue or outside the class hours.

Are parents or guardians allowed to observe classes during the school day?

  • Private Club Badminton Courts, School Badminton Courts and Public Venue Badminton Courts are open to the public, parents or guardians of students may choose to enter the courts to observe the practice; and depending on whether the number of people entering the courts during that period will be limited.
  • All persons (including but not limited to students, their parents or guardians) entering private clubs and school premises must follow the arrangements of our staff (including but not limited to lesson observation arrangements), and we have the right to refuse any person who fails to comply with the arrangements to enter the abovementioned places and we will not make any restitution or other compensatory arrangements for any loss incurred.

Is it possible for a student to get a make-up arrangement if he/she is absent due to illness?

  • If students need to apply for "sick leave", they must submit a valid medical certificate on the same day or within three days to our on-site course assistants or instructors to apply for it (Xiang Yang office will not process any application for sick leave make-up class), Xiang Yang will arrange make-up class for the confirmed sick leave students (for every 4 lessons of badminton class, students will be given one opportunity to make up for the sick leave, and so on and so forth).
  • If a trainee is advised by a doctor to suspend badminton training for a certain period of time (usually 2 weeks or more), the trainee should bring along the doctor's certificate to apply for "Suspension of Study" to Xiang Yang's on-site course assistants or coaches within 1 week after the doctor's diagnosis and Xiang Yang will make arrangements according to the circumstances of each case. If the student is recognized as "Suspended", he/she can return to the course within 1 month after he/she has recovered from the injury or illness.
  • Any request for "sick leave" made later than the above specified time will not be accepted by XIANGYANG.

Can students choose the date and time of make-up classes?

  • All requests for leave of absence will be followed up by assistants or coaches (the office will not process any requests for leave of absence). Students may propose to XIANGYANG for their reference, XIANGYANG staff will try their best to accommodate the students' schedule and arrange for students to attend the same coach or classes of similar level for make-up lessons. Due to the strict adherence to the teacher-student ratio of badminton classes and the fact that the instructors may not be available at the time requested by the students, Xiang Yang may not be able to fully meet the students' requests.
  • XIANGYANG staff will coordinate with students to provide a maximum of 2 make-up times for students to choose from, students must choose one of the 2. If students are absent from the make-up time, it will be considered as a dropout and XIANGYANG will not arrange another make-up time.
  • Any tutorials must be completed within the same semester of the course. Any incomplete tutorials will be considered as a drop and will not be rescheduled by XIANGYANG.

Is it possible to exchange time slots with other students?

  • Any badminton class is only allowed to be attended by the student himself/herself, once found to be replaced by another person, the company will immediately terminate the student's eligibility to attend the class, and all paid fees will not be refunded.
  • Students are not allowed to change the time or date of badminton classes without authorization, the Association reserves the right to terminate the student's eligibility to attend the class and all paid fees will not be refunded.

Is it possible for a student to make up for the Badminton Class examination if he/she fails to attend the examination?

  • Badminton class assessment is a convenient arrangement for students and their parents or guardians to know their badminton progress. The badminton class assessment (no assessment for regular badminton classes with less than 20 classes) is usually scheduled at the penultimate class before the end of each course. If students are not able to attend the examination, XIANG Yang will consider arranging a make-up examination depending on the reason of absence. XIONYANG reserves the right to reject the arrangement.
